About Middle M

About Jim Grant, P.E.

Jim Grant, P.E. is founder and managing director of Middle M Management, and he is passionate about a sustainable future.

Through long-term strategic planning and sound management skills, Jim has helped organizations in the U.S. and Canada achieve their safety, operational and growth objectives. Since 1994, Jim has worked across a wide range of infrastructure sectors, including biogas to energy (distributed generation and renewable natural gas), waste management, brownfield redevelopment and underground engineering.

Jim’s journey into corporate leadership was built upon his years designing, building and operating biogas-fueled energy facilities. Most recently, Jim was CEO of EDL’s North American operations. There he led the integration of its largest acquisition to date and repositioned the organization for long-term revenue stability and growth. Jim has also served as President for the Michigan chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Chair of the Ingham County Brownfield Redevelopment Authority in addition to dedicating his time to many other boards, commissions and community groups.

He is a Professional Engineer in the state of Michigan who attained honors status while earning a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering and a master’s degree in geo-environmental engineering from Michigan State University. He has yet to accomplish his life-long goal of being Sparty at an MSU athletic event.

Jim is committed to the global transition toward a decarbonized economy and has based Middle M’s mission on the principle of “Leave it better than you found it.” He lives in Okemos with his wife, Tina, and has three children for whom he hopes to leave a better world.

His clients and project partners include top-tier solid waste companies, municipal waste authorities,  utilities, transportation fuel suppliers and credit-worthy capital market entities.
